Rodney Lee Miller, 56

| May 24, 2016 1:00 AM

Rodney Lee Miller, 56, of Sandpoint, Idaho, faithfully completed His course after a valiant fight with cancer on May 22, 2016.

He was born in Miami County, Ohio, on Sept. 10, 1959, to Kenneth and Wilma Miller. He married his best friend, Nanette Jean Gish, daughter of Marvin and Joyce Gish, on Sept. 15, 1979. Their marriage was vibrant and full of adventure and they remained best friends for 36 years. In the fall of 1979, Rod committed his life to the Lord and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

Rod was a devoted, loving father to his three daughters, Kate Annette, Melissa Jean, and Heidi Lynette. Rod, as the first grandchild, was loved and adored by all his aunts and grandparents.

As a young man he worked with his dad in his excavation business. Rod and Nanette were called to the deacon’s office in 1987. He was very gifted in this role. His love for the West eventually led him to move his family to Ellensburg, Wash., where he started a concrete paver business. He raised his family there exploring beautiful waterfalls, camping, and relishing life in the mountains.

In 2009, Rod and Nanette moved to Sandpoint to share Christ in this community. They started Miller’s Country Store and bought Sandpoint Movers. Rod loved the community here and kindled many friendships. He allowed the love of Jesus to ?ow through him sacrificially to his family first, and then into the lives of whoever God brought into his path. He greatly desired that God’s people would love each other. Rod let God do things through him that were beyond his own natural ability. He loved the Word of God and shared many inspirational messages and verses with those who knew him.

Left to follow in his footsteps are his wife, Nanette; three daughters and their husbands, Kate and Ryan Haney, Melissa and Jamin Wray, and Heidi and Weston Root; 13 precious grandchildren; his mother, Wilma and husband Marvin Lavy; a sister, Rita and husband Chris Moore; parents-in-law, Marvin and Joyce Gish; and a brother-in-law, Jim Gish.

He is preceded in death by his Dad.

The visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2106, at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Sandpoint, ID 83864 and the funeral service is planned at 10 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2016, at the First Christian Church, 201 N Division Sandpoint, ID 83864. Interment will take place following the service at Pack River Cemetery.
