Swim lessons offered

SANDPOINT — Registration for Parks and Rec swim lessons will opened on May 23 at the Parks and Recreation office located in City Hall (1123 Lake St.), and will be first come, first serve. Kids need not be present at registration.

Session No. 1 lessons will take place July 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28. The registration deadline is July 8.

Session No. 2 lessons will take place Aug. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11. The registration deadline is July 22.

Sandpoint Parks and Recreation swim lessons are designed to teach basic swimming skills to students of all abilities with special emphasis on water safety. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday for two weeks, with Fridays reserved for weather make-ups. All lessons are held in open water at City Beach.

Offerings include:

n Parent and Tot Class, for ages 1-3 years-old, which begins at noon. The fee is $27 for the 25 minute class. Parents must get in the water with their children.

n Perch Class, for ages 3-5, which begins at noon. The fee is $37 for the 40 minute class.

n Perch Class for ages 3-5, which begins at 1 p.m. The fee is $37 for the 40 minute class.

n Rainbow Trout Class, for ages 6-12 (beginner through competent floaters), which begins at 2 p.m. The fee is $37 for the 40 minute class.

n Kokanee Class, for ages 6-12 (competent floaters through advanced), with teens and adults, which begins at 3 p.m. The fee is $37 for the 40 minute class.

City of Sandpoint Residents will receive a $3/child discount from above listed fees. Family rates and partial scholarships will be available.

A parent letter detailing procedure for classes canceled due to weather will be provided at registration.
