Annual Paddlers' Challenge returning to Sand Creek

SANDPOINT — The Sand Creek Paddlers’ Challenge is a fun and exciting event for families and serious racers alike, and will be held on Saturday, June 11, with check-in and on-site registration from 7:30-8 a.m., with the race slated to start at 9 a.m. at the City Beach Pavilion.

The Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department puts on the fun even, which has a fee of $10/boat. Kayaks, canoes or paddleboards are welcome, with a solo and tandem race division, and a recreation division for those who don’t want to leave a wake.

The Challenge is a four mile paddle up and back scenic Sand Creek. There are trophies for 1st place in each division and random drawings for prizes and unique rules for the Recreation Division. This event has grown each year, and is quickly becoming a don’t-miss event.
