SCRUB applications due May 31
SANDPOINT — The Senior Citizens Reduced Utility Bill program offers a 40-percent discount to senior city residents who meet specific eligibility requirements, and provide proof of age and income.
To qualify for SCRUB utility bill relief, qualifying individuals must be over 65 years of age. The maximum qualifying income for a single applicant is $15,312 or $20,712 for a couple. These figures are subject to annual adjustment according to federal guidelines, according to a press release from Sandpoint City Hall.
Acceptable proof of income is either a previous year's tax return, a Social Security check or a statement issued directly by the Social Security Administration. Only one resident in a household must meet the age requirement, provided that residents meet the other eligibility requirements.
The deadline to submit an application for the SCRUB program is May 31. Residents must reapply every year. Applications are available from the Sandpoint city clerk's office, located at City Hall, 1123 Lake St. For further information, please call 208-263-3317.
