I think it’s time to give a neighbor’s perspective on Heather Scott, our state representative, given that we’re hearing so many falsehoods about her.

We’ve known Heather for a long time, and I can say with conviction that you won’t meet a finer person. Before she ran for state representative, as a break from her job as a biologist, she used to run a roadside produce stand with fruits, vegetables and flowers she grew herself. I visited that stand many times, got to know her, and loved her down-home values. I know that people who couldn’t afford to buy anything still received some of her produce.

She is quick to lend a hand in other ways, too. Whether it’s helping someone move, clearing the snow from a neighbor’s driveway — not just once, but repeatedly — helping a down-and-out young man navigate a bureaucratic maze of agencies to get him the assistance he needed, her good deeds are too numerous to mention. And you certainly won’t hear about them from her. So I’m making it my business to talk about them.

If we had more legislators in touch with citizens like her, I would never worry about Idaho. Please re-elect this great lady to her position!
