SANDPOINT — Pets can now reap the benefits of Global CBD's cannabidiol products, which are proven to help with stress, cancer and other ailments in humans and their furry friends.

Global CBD owners Joel Bordeaux and Kelsey Kilmartin of Sandpoint recently released a line of CBD pet products to accompany the existing line of human product that are available in Idaho and across the country.

"We started with the human brand products and I always knew that I would branch into the pets because they are obviously important to us as well," Bordeaux said.

The products are 99 percent pure CBD isolate made from all natural ingredients and contain no THC. CBD is produced from the "stocks and stems" of agricultural hemp from Europe, and the lack of THC in the products makes them legal in Idaho and other states. Global CBD is the first Idaho-based retail company of agricultural hemp.

Bordeaux said most CBD products are tested on animals anyway and it has been proven that all mammals have endocannabinoid systems that work with CBD.

He said the company's flagship product, Pure Relief Ultra Nano water, with a consistency that was not always enjoyed by humans, has been relabeled as one of the pet products and a new oil-based Ultra Nano is available on the human line, which doesn't look like curdled milk as the water-based product sometimes did.

"Pets don't care what the product looks like," he said, adding that some people still prefer the water-based product for themselves. "It still works great, it just doesn't look great."

CBD is known to help with seizures, inflammation, cancer growth reduction, pain management and more. Also, as is the benefit with humans, the products can help animals sleep better and lessen stress and anxiety.

"We are excited to try this around the Fourth of July next year to see if we can help dogs not go through so much anxiety with the fireworks," Bordeaux said.

He said there are many success stories regarding the human products, and already they are receiving positive testimonials for the pet line as well.

One local testimonial Bordeaux shared with the Daily Bee is from Jodi McCray who has used the Pet CBD Care on her 120-pound malamute for about two months. In her testimonial, McCray wrote that her dog is only 6-years-old, but moves like she is 15.

"After using the product for only a couple of consistent days, I noticed she was much quicker on her feet and moves much faster during her daily walks," McCray wrote. "I have used other products that are very expensive and I never saw a difference with her. While the price of this product is minimal compared to others, it actually works. I need my dog to stick around a few more years and have the quality of life she deserves. I am a sceptic of many products out there, but this product speaks for itself. You cannot go wrong with purchasing Pet CBD Care for your furry loved ones. Happy pet — happy pet owner."

The pet line is focused on dogs, cats and horses but can be used by any mammal. The products are administered through food and include pet spray, capsules and the Pet Ultra Nano. Pet line prices vary from $48 to $120. The human line includes tinctures, drinks, vapor and Ultra Nano, varying in price from $30 to $130.

Bordeaux said $1 will be donated to local animal shelters for each bottle of Nano sold.

A presentation with a Q-and-A session will be held by Bordeaux at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Winter Ridge Natural Foods in Sandpoint. Samples will be available as well.
