Allan Decker, 74

Allan Decker of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at the age of 74.

Allan was born Aug. 1, 1942, to Leroy Decker and Beryl (Decker) Morgan in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He grew up in Sandpoint and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1960. He married Janie Breeden (Hindberg) on Sept. 12, 1975, and gained two sons.

He worked at the Colburn mill during most of his career loading and unloading logging trucks. After the mill closed, he worked at the Bonners Ferry and the Chilco mills until his retirement.

Allan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed steelhead and salmon fishing on the Clearwater River in Orofino, Idaho. Elk River, Idaho was his second home during elk season. He was a regular attendee of the gun shows throughout North Idaho. Allan was an accomplished bowler and a member of numerous leagues. He also enjoyed competing in pool tournaments.

Allan is survived by his wife, Janie, at their Sandpoint home; three sons, Jerry (Pamela) Hindberg of Moscow, Robby (Patricia) Hindberg of Boise, and Michael (Marisa) Decker of Meridian; four grandchildren, Kaylynn (Philip) Butler of Boise, Miranda Hindberg of Jeffersonville, N.Y., and Amanda and Nicole Hindberg of Moscow; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Purley (Rita) Decker of Hope; his sister, Mary (Del) Glazier of Laclede; and a brother-in-law, Lynn Berg of Samuels; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Wayne; and his sister, Bonnie Berg.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Cowboy Church, 4159-5099 Cocolalla Loop Road, Cocolalla, Idaho. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and chaplins at Sacred Heart Medical Center for all their care and support. Allan had many doctors throughout his life comment on his heart conditions so he wanted to donate it for medical research. His body has been donated to MEDCURE. They will return the cremated remains to the family at the conclusion of the research.

The family asks any memorials be sent to the Shriners Hospital.
