Nov. 3, 1966 — CHIEF IN HOSPITAL
Assistant Chief of Police Dub Lewis said today that Chief George Elliot entered a Spokane hospital on Oct. 30 for an examination.
Elliot reported that he has been undergoing tests and there is a possibility that he might have to have an operation on his back.

McCONNAUGHEY MARRIED IN NEVADA
Mr. and Mrs. Harlow McConnaughey, 421 South First Avenue, announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen Irene, to Evan Ray Chaney of Spokane, Wash. They were married Oct. 22 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mrs. Chaney graduated from Sandpoint High School and Eastern Washington State College. She teaches at Bowdish Junior High School in Spokane. Mr. Chaney graduated from Gonzaga Prep, attended Brigham Young University and graduated from Oregon State College. He is a salesman for Nalley’s Foods.

Nov. 3, 1916 — NO CLUB MEETING HELD
Owing to the nearness of the election there was no meeting of the commercial club but Secretary Rooker said, “Since we re-organized back dues have come in until almost our full membership is in good standing and the club now has enough funds to relieve our total debt. As the new depot’s furniture has not yet been located, the formal opening will be delayed until after the election.”

ARTHURS INFANT DIES AT CABINET
Margaret, the 15-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Arthurs of Cabinet, died Tuesday. An adenoid operation was performed Sunday, but the little one had not the strength to rally from the ordeal. The funeral was held from Clarksfork on Wednesday, attended by nearly every family of Cabinet as a mark of sympathy to the parents.

SELL 80,000,000 FEET
Supervisor Fitzwater of the Pend Oreille national forest recently executed a sale of 80,000,000 feet of timber on the Lightning Creek watershed to the Dover Lumber company. The contract for removing the timber covers a period of from eight to ten years. The timber will run about 50 percent white pine.

FILE SUIT
The case of the city against the county to recover over $6000 in unpaid taxes which it is alleged is due, was started Saturday when suit was filed in district court by A.H. Conner, who is representing the city in its efforts to recover.
