1. I originally ran for office in 2008 because I thought I could do a better job managing the office. Also, I took the lead in opposing the unnecessary, 60 bed work release lease/ option jail. My actions saved the County 6 million dollars.

2. For 30 years, I have served in various positions in Law Enforcement and for eight of those years I have served as your Sheriff.

Plus I am the past President of the Idaho Sheriff’s Association. I have served for two years as the Legislative Chairman for the Idaho Sheriff’s Association, and have held various positions for the Fraternal Order of Police.

3. 1. Retaining highly trained Deputies.

2. Connecting the Community with the Sheriff’s Office.

3. Maintaining a peaceful and safe Community.

4. 1. The county spends upwards of $100K to hire and train a deputy. That in- vestment is lost when those deputies leave for higher paying jobs with better paid medical benefits. The city of Coeur d’Alene is self-insured.

I would like to see Bonner County make the transition to becoming self-insured and being able to reduce the cost of medical benefits to all employees.

2. Expanding my Community Force Program, see www.bonnerso.org

3. Keeping the drugs from flowing over our state and federal borders and keeping out the gangs from Spokane.

5. I will have created my legacy by accomplishing my top three goals.

9. I strongly disagree with it. The commissioners’ decision to adopt this policy will only lead to a higher than normal turnover and has already reduced the morale for those employees working for department heads and elected officials who have adopted that policy.

12. The proper recognition of my great employees by local media. One example: Some time ago at a commissioners’ meeting, I publicly recognized the outstanding police work of three of my deputies who with their K-9 partners, apprehended an armed and dangerous suspect. Mr. Kinnaird was there and took pictures, however the story of those deputies’ accomplishments and bravery, were never told in the Bonner County Daily Bee.

13. The biggest challenge facing Bonner County is retention good employees. The citizens of Bonner County are short changed every time a good employee leaves.

14. I have been criticized for purchasing the Lenco BearCat armored vehicle. Most people don’t understand that the BearCat is a defensive tool. It has helped keep my deputies and the Bonner County citizens safe.

15. Most people like to live and work in a safe environment. Providing a safe place to live, work and play, lends itself to job growth.

16. Will you fulfill your oath of office to uphold the Constitution and the laws of Idaho? I do.
