1. I think you can have more of a positive effect on your community serving a local office. Also I am comfortable with the responsibility of being the prosecutor. In the criminal justice system the proverbial buck stops here.

2. I have a great deal of experience in both the criminal prosecution field as well as representing government entities in a civil capacity. This job requires expertise in many different areas of the law.

3. Child abuse, methamphetamine, and traffic offenses. We have a real problem with child abuse here in Bonner County. Much of it is tied to the abuse of meth. Children have a right to grow up in an environment where they are not abused. Unfortunately here in our area we have generations of families where child sex abuse is part of life. In Bonner County we have a high per capita rate of traffic incidents resulting in death and/or serious injuries.

4. I plan on continuing the fight a- gainst child a- buse. It is not an easy road and there are setbacks along the way.

We will continue to aggressively prosecute meth cases even though it isn’t the popular thing to do. If folks in this community could ride around with our cops and see the places some of our kids have to live in, they would change their minds on the issue of the utilization of assets to fight serious drugs.

5. I hope to create a legacy of a prosecutor who didn’t back down from a fight as well as a legacy of professionalism and honorable service to this community.

6. Yes, I think there should be more accountability for unelected bureaucrats by our elected representatives.

7. There needs to be improvements in the education system which probably entails greater and better funding. Hopefully local projects like the installation of fiber will improve things greatly with a relatively small capital outlay.

8. I am on the Idaho Traffic Safety Commission and I appreciate the hard work from the folks at ITD. They have some really bright people and are data driven. The big projects like the byway and the Garwood to Sagle really help to transform our communities and because of that I support more transportation funding.

9. It makes sense from a legal standpoint to try to limit liability of the entity. I employ 18 employees and I have been fortunate enough to have never had to fire anyone. Going to at-will isn’t going to change the way I run this office.

10. I think changes to lessen regulation are good in general. There was a fear 10 years ago that Bonner County would grow too quickly and that we needed to stop that from happening. I think that fear has been shown to be unfounded.

11. As a hunter I am probably a little biased but I favor hunting access in perpetuity and continued harvest of trees for our mills.

12. The criminal justice system is not getting enough attention. People are upset by rising crime and in particular lots of burglaries. I would submit this is a direct result of the system becoming much more lenient on drug crimes. I know there are many many people out there that support our fight, however, they are quiet while the people claiming the cops are bad and the prosecutors are too harsh are generally far more vocal.

13. Meth and heroin.

14. We are too lenient on criminals. Prosecutors are only one part of the system.

The Department of Corrections has an enormous influence on our judges. The Idaho prisons are full and no one wants to pay to house criminals.

15. My civil department works directly with the Board of Commissioners and the Planning Department and will assist them to tailor county ordinances and policy to help stimulate job growth.

16. How can you make Bonner County a better place to live? I will zealously prosecute people who commit violent crimes and hurt children.
