1. A desire to accurately represent the constituents of District 1, and the opportunity to strengthen the State of Idaho.

2. An in depth understanding of the philosophies surrounding our Nation’s founding, and what the principles are that constitute good government.

3. Workforce training. Assisting individuals to achieve the skills necessary to be successful in our local economy and beyond.

Personal privacy protection. Data collection of students and other individuals needs to be more closely scrutinized in every executive branch department.

Executive branch overreach. Lawmaking is the responsibility of the Legislative branch and the Executive branch is frequently taking this role unto itself.

4. I have been working on these issues by having conversations with constituents, businesses, and education stakeholders in District 1, as well as the work I have been doing on the Ed- ucation, Busi-ness, and Trans- portation committees.

5. I hope to leave Idaho a stronger, more independent State with a predictable, transparent government in which each branch takes its responsibility to the people of Idaho seriously. Government is becoming more and more centralized, and historically this has led to an unresponsive and oppressive government.

6. I strongly support HJR5 because I have experienced the intentional abrogation of our separation of powers by the executive branch through the rules process, and elsewhere. It is not the purview of the executive branch to make law, and, without legislative oversight of the process, this is exactly what the rules process will do. The Legislature is elected to represent their constituents, and there is no remedy for unelected bureaucrats who go against the will of the people.

7. This is a simplistic question to a complex issue. Do facilities require more funding? Does staffing require more funding? Does reading readiness, transportation, special ed., K-12, Higher Ed, C.T.E….etc..? Some may answer yes to all, but with Education funding consuming 65% of our State budget we cannot simply “increase funding”. I am pleased to have been appointed to an Interim Committee that is looking at our Public Education Funding Formula, and am actively seeking ways for Idaho to provide the best education possible for our students.

8. Transportation funding received an enormous boost with the increase in the fuels tax and increased registration fees that were passed last year. More important was the clause that provides additional funding as extra revenue is received. ITD is doing a terrific job of attending to the highest priority areas, and are achieving great results with what they have to work with.

9. It is imperative that Idaho controls the lands within its borders. This would result in safer, more productive communities, more public access, a robust economy, and would protect the lands from being sold to private interests and foreign nations.

10. As the A.C.A. crumbles under its own deplorable weight, the logical course to follow would be to rescue those laboring under a false narrative that they will have better health care through a government program, as opposed to a free-market alternative.

11. Stimson took advantage of a federal program that is available to all landowners. I am not comfortable with the perpetuity of the program, and I am not comfortable with one industry’s taxes being used to benefit a corporation. I do, however, agree with Stimson’s right to develop the land as they see fit.

12. The danger of the ever-increasing size and scope of government.

13. Ensuring that our businesses are able to remain viable in District 1, and providing as many educational opportunities as possible are important issues. These are important in order to maintain our quality of life and to provide a strong future for our children.

14. That I somehow do not accurately represent all constituents in District 1. This is an uninformed assertion, I have made an effort to speak with anyone who wishes to speak with me, and have proven myself to be someone who will listen to all concerns and discuss solutions.

15. The future of jobs in our county should be strong as we continue to assist our existing businesses, and encourage new businesses, by reducing regulations, lowering taxes, and encouraging a skilled pool of employees.

16. Q: What is the role of the states in our constitutional republic?

A: The states are responsible for everything not specifically enumerated to the federal government in the constitution.
