TU, veterans team up for fly fishing expedition

This summer, Panhandle Chapter of Trout Unlimited provided a group of veterans and their guests a series of fly fishing lessons utilizing the grounds of the Sandpoint Waterlife Discovery Center. The series of four lessons included fly casting, fly fishing equipment, useful knots, stream dynamics, wading safety, aquatic entomology, and relating flies to aquatic insects.

The series concluded with Trout Unlimited members taking the vererans on a fishing day on the Kootenai River where nearly everyone had the experience of catching a trout on a fly.

On Nov. 16, Panhandle Chapter of Trout Unlimited will have a dinner meeting ae Di Luna’s Restaurant and will feature Tim Swant of Avista speaking on Avista’s mitigation measures for the Clark Fork Dam with emphasis on the fisheries.

Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. All interested persons are invited to attend.
