I wonder where the funding is coming from for the new Homeschool Academy provided through the Lake Pend Oreille School District? Melinda Rossman, teacher and facilitator of the academy said, “We are getting ready to hire our first employee to support me with some of the events we do.” There are weekly trips, recently they went to see the spawning kokanee.

In many ways it sounds similar to the “track” program in Clark Fork Jr. Sr. High School, only in Clark Fork they are short of teachers and have to write grants or find other monies to transport the students to studies away from the school building. The academy now has one paid teacher and is soon to hire a helper?

I am in no way opposed to offering something for the homeschoolers, but I do wonder at introducing new programs when proven programs are struggling for adequate funding.
