Did I hear this correct, that Idaho Transportation is considering to allow logging trucks to carry and additional 21,000-plus pounds in weight per load of logs? They say this will reduce fuel costs and allow more logs to be shipped to Asia. How?

Does this make any sense to anyone outside of the logging industry? Who is going to pay for our roads being ruined because of this extra added weight from these overloaded logging trucks? Are these logging trucks going to have their brakes increased and checked to allow them to stop safely in case of an emergency because of the added weight on their rigs?
