As an almost daily traveler on the Long Bridge it is wonderful to see the end of construction and return to a somewhat normal traffic pattern. I continue to be amazed how well the contractor was able to replicate each and every bump and puddle on the road surface while hopefully extending the useful life of the bridge surface.

It is now time for highway officials to extend the 55 MPH speed limit north on the bypass through Sandpoint to an appropriate location just south of the junction of Highway 95 and Highway 200. This segment of highway is clearly capable of handling a 10 MPH increase and probably more. Transition from 55 MPH to the 45 MPH limit through Ponderay should be seamless as it is Southbound on US 95 North of Ponderay where it goes from 60 MPH to 45 MPH.

I understand this will reduce the time travelers have to gaze upon Sand Creek scenery and the rail yard, however it would facilitate quicker movement on the bypass allowing folks north and south bound to transit Sandpoint more efficiently which of course was one of the reasons for the bypass anyway.

Anticipating rapid implementation of this suggestion, I remain a daily traveler on the bypass … albeit slower than appropriate.
