Nov. 15, 1966 — WHAT DID HE DO?

What do you suppose the governor-elect did after spending the morning of the day after his election answering telephone calls and dictating telegrams to dozens of people?

He donned his old hunting clothes, grabbed his rifle and took off for the hills to spend the rest of the day deer hunting. This is relaxation after one of the toughest campaigns of his political career.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

Foreign Language Club met to elect the following officers: Bruce Carlson, president; Bruce Greene, vice president; and Noel Trunnell, secretary-treasurer.

During Mr. Whalen’s absence, due to illness, Mrs. Ruyle directed the choir and Hud Nieman directed the band.

Future Homemakers of America Club filled more positions at their last meeting. Song leader will be Judy Kellogg; Carla Joseph, historian; Carla Berger, parliamentarian and Linda Jackson, public relations. Rose Syth, Judy Kellogg and Linda Battien make up the program committee. The committee to look over the club constitution is Delilah Marks, Curtiss Peterson, Sheryl Rigby and Laura McNeil.

At the Student Council meeting it was reported there is $447.44 in the treasury with $121.37 of that being orphan money. One more collection will be taken for the orphan’s Christmas gift.

Nov. 15, 1916 — RINK TO START

Rink Opera manager Billy Smith announced that the “vital” part of the Rink band organ has been returned from Cincinnati, where it was sent for necessary repairs, and that the rink will initiate its winter roller skating schedule by opening tomorrow afternoon and night.

WILL CITY TAKE WATER SYSTEM?

A step toward the purchase of the Drumheller water system was taken by the city council when City Clerk S.M. Moore recommended purchase of the plant, with the price set at $150,000.

POSTMASTERS ARMY AGENTS

Under the new Army and Navy bill the country’s postmasters are made recruiting agents and local Postmaster Don C.D. Moore has received printed matter relative to the procedure. When applicants appear for enlistment the postmaster notifies the Spokane office which sends a man up to give them the preliminary examination and in case they are accepted they are sent to Spokane for final test and acceptance into the service.

RIDLEY BOXING ON COAST

A letter from Bud Ridley, formerly a Sandpoint bantamweight but now of Seattle, states that he is progressing in the ring and has good chances of going against some of the coast’s good boys.
