My great-great-great-uncle was killed in the Civil War, fighting tp preserve the union. My grandfather served with the Statue of Liberty Brigade in World War I. His son went to Japan, my father to Germany, my mother’s cousin to Germany, and another uncle flew throughout Europe. In addition, my sister was an registered nurse for 40 years with the VA.

When a typhoon decimated Hong Kong, I was part of an Australian, English and American task force that made water for Hong Kong, saving them, I served throughout Asia; Marguerite’s brother spent a year in Vietnam. Our daughter has done two tours in Afghanistan as a doctor, she is ethnic Chinese. Her fiance is African American and also a doctor, My cousin’s son is currently serving as a Navy doctor.

And guess what, we all stand for the National Anthem because we are Americans.
