LPOIC's fall derby takes to the lake

SANDPOINT — The 2016 edition of the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club’s Fall Derby gets underway this weekend.

The contest, which features more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, runs from Saturday through Sunday and from Friday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Nov. 27.

There will be adult division for rainbow and lake trout, in addition to two junior divisions and a youth division.

The cost to enter is $40 for adults, $20 for juniors and anglers 13 years old and younger compete free of charge.

There will be a $2,000 cash prize for the adult who catches the biggest rainbow. The top prize in the adult Mackinaw class is $1,000.

Anglers between the age of 9-13 compete in the Youth A division, while those 8 and under compete in the Youth B Division.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each of the three divisions. The junior division cash purse includes 80 percent of all entry fees split by 50, 30 and 20 percent.

There will also be awards for Mackinaw of the Day.

A $2,500 members bonus will be evenly split by LPOIC members who place in the adult rainbow division.

An awards ceremony is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Bonner Mall in Ponderay.
