Sandpoint cross country team announces team awards

SANDPOINT — For the second consecutive year, juniors Katherine Kaul and Fin Lund-Andersen were named team MVPs, as the Bulldog cross country team held its annual awards banquet recently.

Captain Honors for leadership and service went to Dana Beaty, Rainey Woodward, Reilly McGinnis, Kyle Almeida and Dutton Rogers.

Coaches Awards of Excellence went to Cole Dillon, Garrett Pierce, Jacob Jackson, Hannah Davidson, Niah Brass and Farli Boden.

The William Johnson Award for seniors who are the most inspirational and representative of Sandpoint cross country in their contributions over four years went to Dana Beaty and Clay Rasmussen.

Most Improved Runners were sophomore Chloe Braedt and senior Riley McGinnis.

Academic Honors for highest GPA on varsity went to Reilly Wolfe (4.216) and Rainey Woodward (4.076).

n Lund-Andersen, Davidson shine at Nike race

Last weekend a host of Sandpoint runners competed at the Nike Cross Regional Race in Boise at Eagle Island State Park, as the team wanted to race one more time to cap the 2016 season.

Fin Lund-Andersen was the top local finisher with a 17:33, while Hannah Davidson was the top girls finisher with a 20:09 over the technical and loved course where the state meet will be held next fall.
