SANDPOINT — Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter has appointed local veterinary medical doctor Robert Pierce of North Idaho Animal Hospital, to serve a five-year term on the Board of Veterinary Medicine, based in Boise.

The board serves to promote public health, safety, and welfare for the people and animals of Idaho. It functions as the main regulatory mechanism in the state for veterinary health professionals.

In 2014, Dr. Pierce recently served as the president of the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association — the association of practitioners within Idaho. North Idaho Animal Hospital was recently approved by the American Animal Hospital Association for membership into its elite national group which represents the top 15 percent of hospitals across the nation.
