SANDPOINT — Farmers, gardeners, or anyone interested in learning to extend their growing season are invited to register for “High Tunnels for Enhanced Food Production” a workshop today, Nov. 19.

The program is being offered at the University of Idaho Extension, Bonner County office located near the Bonner County fairgrounds from 1-3 p.m.

Diane Green, certified organic farmer, farmer mentor, and educator, cooperated with the UI Extension, Bonner County educator, Jennifer Jensen to collect data for this project.

Jennifer will share information gathered at Greentree Naturals Farm over a three-year research project looking at the utilization of high tunnels to enhance food production. Diane will share season extension techniques used on the farm and lessons learned from this project.

There is no fee for this workshop. Light refreshments will be served.

The high tunnel research project is funded through a grant from Western Sustainable Research and Education. The overall project includes two other farmer cooperators and six other Extension educators through the state.
