Congratulations to Shawn Keough for her election as District 1’s state senator.

Her appearance on the KRFY candidates’ forum solidified my perception of her as a knowledgeable, honest and effective state senator. Although I disagree with her on many policy issues (maybe even most!), I also regard her as a paragon of the politician who is sincerely trying to move Idaho into the future by working out the hard compromises we need to survive and prosper.

I applaud Shawn’s efforts to uphold the only hope we have: as Abraham Lincoln could well have said, “by working together, we become stronger.”
