Food bank close to Turkey goal

| November 22, 2016 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Bonner Community Food Bank has almost enough turkeys to feed the approximately 900 families they help out for the Thanksgiving holiday.

At the close of the day Monday, food bank director Debbie Love said the food bank was about 25 turkeys short of its goal.

"The community has been great," Love said. "There is lots of support and we appreciate it."

Distribution of Turkeys began Monday and Love said more than 400 clients already stopped by to pick up their Thanksgiving meal. She expects the rest to pick up their turkeys today and said food bank staff anticipates new clients on Wednesday.

To donate, drop your turkeys by the food bank, 1707 Culvers Drive Sandpoint.
