U.S. 95 crash kills motorist

| November 22, 2016 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County woman was killed Sunday after colliding with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 95 at Selle Road.

Idaho State Police said Barbara Crawford was westbound on Selle when she failed to heed a stop sign at the highway intersection. Crawford’s 2005 Ford Escape sport utility vehicle crashed into a northbound semi and then overturned.

The 2014 Kenworth semi Crawford collided with jackknifed and slid into a ditch on the east side of the highway, causing its trailer to tip and release its load. The collision intermittently blocked the highway for several hours.

Crawford, 64, was wearing a seatbelt, state police said. The driver of the semi, 34-year-old Christopher Hodgkinson of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, was not injured in the crash, according to ISP. Hodgkinson was also wearing safety restraints, state police said.

Crawford is the 11th person to die in a motor vehicle collision in Bonner County in 2016, according to the ISP news release archive.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Coffelt Funeral Chapel with Bishop Steven Roos conducting.

Family and friends are invited to sign Barbara’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.
