Deadline for inauguration tickets today

The deadline for Idahoans to request tickets to attend the presidential inauguration swearing-in ceremony is Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. PT. The inauguration swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence will take place Friday, Jan. 20 at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

For the 58th presidential inauguration swearing-in ceremony, members of Congress are provided with a limited number of tickets. As it has for previous ceremonies, the Idaho congressional delegation is joining together to maximize accessibility to the inauguration swearing-in ceremony for Idahoans. Tickets for the presidential inauguration may be requested from websites of Sen. Mike Crapo, Sen. James Risch, Congressman Mike Simpson, or Congressman Raul Labrador. As the congressional delegation is collaborating on ticket distribution, it is not necessary to make more than one request from an office.

Any requests made after the deadline at 4 p.m. PT will be placed on a waiting list. This deadline has been set to allow Idahoans who wish to attend the ceremony enough planning time for travel and accommodation arrangements.

The Idaho congressional delegation will make every effort to distribute the tickets made available to Idahoans on a “first-come, first-served” basis and preference will be given to Idaho residents. Those who wish to request tickets but are not from Idaho should contact their respective member of Congress.

While additional information on the ceremony itself can be found on the website for the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, below are a few quick tips for Idahoans to keep in mind:

• Tickets to attend the presidential inauguration swearing-in ceremony and parade are free and distributed through congressional offices. Idahoans should not purchase tickets to these events from other, possibly unreliable sources.

• Due to anticipated demand and the limited number of tickets to the event, each request will be limited to four per request. If a party requires more than four tickets, an additional request may be submitted.

• Tickets to the inauguration swearing-in ceremony are required for every person, including children and infants in arms. Full names and ages must be provided on the request form; make sure to include yourself (or the requesting individual) on the request form.

• The majority of tickets are standing-room only and are only for the swearing-in ceremony and cannot be used for any Inaugural balls or other events.

• Tickets are not necessary to view the inauguration swearing-in ceremony; the tickets simply allow access to specific sections of the Capitol grounds.

There will be large sections of the National Mall that will be accessible to the general public; typically jumbo viewing screens are set up throughout the National Mall.
