Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House is heading to Coeur d’Alene.

The newest Sweet Lou’s Restaurant will opens its doors Monday, Nov. 28, at their new Coeur d’Alene location in the Parkside building, bringing their favorite dishes and recipes home to downtown Coeur d’Alene.

“It’s about time we expanded into Coeur d’Alene,” Meggie Foust, co-owner, said. “I have always been proud of being born and raised here. I’m excited to have an opportunity to bring something to the area and have the chance to serve our family and friends.”

For the past six years, Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and bar in Ponderay has been the place in the Sandpoint area to eat, drink and catch a game with the entire family. Emphasizing family recipes, Sweet Lou’s offers familiar American fare entrees that the Fousts take to the next level with fresh ingredients and creative twists.

“Ninety-five percent of what we offer is made in house,” Chad Foust, co-owner said. “We hand batter each onion ring, cut every steak and smoke all of our salmon, pork and ribs (including bison ribs) right in the kitchen.”

Those ribs are covered in homemade barbecue sauces and served along original-recipe side dishes such as smoked baked beans and horseradish mashed potatoes. All the ten unique burgers on the menu are made from freshly ground top sirloin and put into combinations that will make your mouth water. For instance, for the 60/40 burger, they ground beef and bacon together creating the ultimate bacon cheese burger.

With the restaurant being named after their 7-year-old son, Lou, it was important to the Fousts that their menu offering included something for everyone.

“Everything on the menu is something we like to eat at home,” said Chad. “Our goal is to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which the entire family can come in hungry and leave happy. It has worked for us in Sandpoint and we are excited to share our model with Coeur d’Alene, too.”

Along with an extensive menu and casual atmosphere, Sweet Lou’s will have 32 beers on tap to enjoy while you are watching your favorite game on one of their 24, 4K televisions.

“Our beer selection is focused on our favorites that are made here in the Northwest,” Chad said. “We like to celebrate local breweries and share their offerings. We also will have a few classics available that have proven their value through the years.”

Happy hour is available every day from 4-6 p.m. with beer, wine and appetizer specials. Every Friday and Saturday, Sweet Lou’s features smoked prime rib as the dinner special.

Be sure to become friends with Sweet Lou’s on Facebook for ongoing specials. They will be open seven days a week, 11 a.m.- 10 p.m.
