Nov. 24, 1966 — LOGGERS KILL COUGAR

Two men logging on the Bud Moon property on the south rim of Schweitzer Basin decided to take last Wednesday off and go cougar hunting in the big ski bowl.

Renald Poelstra and Stubbs Verwolf killed a female cougar treed by their three hounds and held by one of them.

The other two dogs took after two more cougars and by Thursday morning had still not been heard from.

NEW WALK POURED

Last of the concrete was poured Tuesday on new sidewalks on Cedar at First Avenue in front of J.C. Penney and Sprouse Reitz Variety.

ANTHONY’S OPENS IN NEW LOCATION

Ben Longbottom is the new manager for the Anthony Store now in the Farmin properties on First Avenue. The Longbottom family has taken residence at 405 S. Lavina.

Pend d’Oreille Review

Nov. 24, 1916 — FURNITURE INSTALLED

The oak benches for the waiting room and smoking room of the new Northern Pacific depot arrived last Saturday after several weeks had been consumed in tracing them when they were lost in transit. They were installed that afternoon and as soon as the oak rocking chairs arrive for the ladies waiting room and are installed the final touch will be given the opening of the new home.

COMPANY A MESS FUND FORWARDED

The Company A mess fund opened some weeks ago by the Pend d’Oreille Review was sent out last week. The total fund mailed to the boys from Sandpoint now on duty at Nogales was $74.84, which will go largely to the provision of a Thanksgiving dinner for the boys.

SKATING CLUB

A number of local skating enthusiasts are engaged in forming a skating club, the purpose of which will be to pay regular dues to provide a man to keep the ice cleared near the long wagon bridge. Guy Kendall and Lawrence Berg are pushing the matter and will attempt to secure the services of E.M. Brower as manager of the club.

STORM DOORS AT GEM

Manager Jack Gardner is putting up storm doors at the Gem theatre insuring more protection from cold to patrons of the popular showhouse. This will also increase the size of the lobby.
