Trooper Brandalyn Crapo will represent the Idaho State Police and the state of Idaho in Washington, D.C., during the lighting of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree on Dec. 6.

Trooper Crapo was injured Nov. 6 when a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided with her patrol car. At the time, Crapo was leading the escort motorcade for the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree from McCall to Boise.

Crapo will make a full recovery from her injuries before traveling to Washington.

Alaska Airlines and the American Council of Life Insurers, major sponsors of this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree from Idaho’s Payette National Forest, are providing airfare and hotel accommodations for Crapo.

“The Capitol Christmas Tree is a symbol greater than us all. It represents everything that we in Idaho, and the rest of the country, hold dear to our hearts. To serve as the tree’s escort is truly an honor. Trooper Crapo proudly represented every trooper, officer, and deputy by escorting the very symbol all Idahoans are eager to share with the rest of the country,” said Idaho State Police Capt. Bill Gardiner, in a statement issued Monday.
