Hale, Belgarde top K&K derby

SANDPOINT — The Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club fall derby has a new leader as Don Hale hooked a 19.02-pound rainbow to claim top spot in that division. Gale Belgarde Jr. continued his hold on the mackinaw division with his 18.84-pound fish.

Hale pulled in the 32.5-inch fish on Friday. Claiming second was Dave Turner, who caught a 18.74-pound, 35.5-inch rainbow. Chris Bier is in third, followed by Jim Carothers in fourth, and Barb Gillespie, who hooked a 16.22-ound, 33-inch rainbow to make her way onto the leaderboard.

While the top spot didn’t change in the derby’s mackinaw division, a number of the other spots did with Art Webb claiming second with an 18.36-inch mackinaw that measured 34.5 inches, followed by Charlie LaDuca, who hooked a 35-inch, 17.54-pound mackinaw. In fourth is Sally Kalb with her 16.70-pound, 37-inch mackinaw.

Alexis Berbe is leading the Junior division, followed by Kameron Roslak in second with a 9.46-pound rainbow and Joseph Kasperson with a 9.18-pound rainbow.

Nolan Steward is leading the Youth A division, while Buck Vanderkolk tops the Youth B bracket.

Youth B Division:

1. Buck Vanderkolk, 6.40 pounds, 25 inches; 2. Claire Belgarde, 6.52, 25 inches; 3. Mason Nett, 6.34, 23.25.
