We certainly live in remarkable times, and 2016 has been one for the ages. The Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series after 108 years. Matthew Centrowitz became the first American since 1908 to win the 1,500 meter run at the Olympics. Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in literature, and Donald Trump won the presidency. The idea that the GOP was going the way of the Whigs as one local voice has predicted has been postponed for the time being.

Instead of swallowing one’s distaste, the anger from the left has regurgitated to the streets of American cities like Portland, Ore., in ways that should dishonor us all. Just so everyone knows there has never been a time when every single American citizen has been happy with our election results. Somehow all of us should find some way to support the new president, which given our glaring differences will be very tough indeed. We can either dump on the process by burning Old Glory or gear up for the next election.
