Nielsen, Norling power Sharks at CAST swim meet

SANDPOINT — Aiden Nielsen posted second place finishes in the 50 fly and 100 fly, while Caleb Norling was second in the 200 IM, 100 free and 200 free, leading a strong contingent of Sandpoint Sharks at the recent CAST Fall Spash swim meet at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene.

The two also teamed with Jack and Zack Grzincic to finish second in the 200 free relay and third in the 200 medley relay, leading a host of strong finishes from the boys team in a meet with swimmers from around the region.

Other Shark boys to notch top 10 finishes included Hayden Norling (5th 500 free, 8th 1,000 free), Jack Grzincic (6th in 50 free and 50 back), Zack Grzincic (6th 100 fly, 8th 50 back), Triston Tomco (7th 200 free), Miles Luce (7th 500 free, 8th 200 breast) and Garrett Bamer (10th 200 back).

Fresh off the end of another strong high school season, Payton Bokowy dominated nearly all of her events, winning the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free and the 200 IM, showing the speed that makes her one of the fastest youth swimmers in the state.

Kate Bokowy also had a strong meet, finishing second in the 50 free, 6th in the 100 free and 7th in the 200 IM, and also teamed with Julia Cummings, Sabrina Wilson and Autumn Morgan to finish fourth in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Other top 10 finishes turned in from the Shark girls included Cummings (5th 100 back, 6th 50 free), Morgan (6th 100 breast, 10th 100 back), Ryleigh Bamer (8th 100 fly) and Emma Schmitt (10th 500 free).
