CLARK FORK — Freshman Kobe Banks wasted little time making his presence known on varsity, draining three 3-pointers in the first quarter en route to a team-high 19 points, as the Wampus Cats posted a solid 58-50 win over North Idaho Christian in season-opening North Star League boys basketball late Monday night at Clark Fork High School.

Spencer Jeffres did his usual work on the blocks, tallying 18 points and nine rebounds, and was key in igniting a 29 point fourth quarter as the Wampus Cats broke the game open.

Hunter Boudousquie added 11 points and seven rebounds, Wade Stevens six points and five boards, and Bryant Moore four points and four rebounds to help new head coach Jim Banks notch his first high school win.

“Great team victory against North Idaho Christian. Hard defensive game,” claimed Banks, whose son did much of the offensive damage. “Dakota West gave us big defense off the bench.”

The Wampus Cats will look to make it two in a row when they host Coeur d’Alene Charter on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
