Sandpoint bowlers shine at Special Olympics tourney

COEUR d’ALENE — Sahl Underwood, Caitlin Bayles, Brandon Beck, Bradey Scrimsher and Shaine Parson each took first place in their respective divisions, leading a strong showing by the Sandpoint Special Olympics team at the recent 2016 Idaho State Regional Tournament at Sunset Lanes in Coeur d’Alene.

Parson was the top bowler at the tournament with a combined score of 315 for two games, while Mark Bledsoe, Dharma Crawford, Santana Martin, Bradey Scrimsher and Hayley Thompson all achieved their highest score of the season in at least one game.

There were 120 athletes competing fro Coeur d’Alene, Silver Valley, Sandpoint, Priest River and Bonners Ferry, with 23 athletes competing for Sandpoint. Each athlete bowled two games and were placed by their total points.

Roy Burrow, Santana Matin, Kathy Strandy, Hayley Thompson, Mark Bledsoe and Lee Hudson earned second places in their divisions, while John Painter, Doug Tipton, Renee Cunningham, Dharma Crawford, Missy Laker, Chelsea Dennis, Eliyah Allen, Jacob Tifft and Jackson Barth earned third places in their divisions.

Rounding out the top Sandpoint finishes were athletes Robert Hull, Tammy Shivel, Scott Stephenson and Bob Leictman, who earned fourth place in their divisions.
