| November 30, 2016 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Get the skis and snowboards ready, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is set to open Friday for the 2016-2017 season.

"Thanks to some perfect temps for snowmaking, partnered with a great base of natural snowfall, we are ready to get this season started," said Dig Chrismer, marketing manager for Schweitzer, in a statement released Tuesday.

Daily operations will begin Friday with Musical Chairs and Basin Express Quad lifts running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Adult full-day lift tickets will be $45. The resort plans to add the Lakeview Triple to daily operations Saturday with adult lift tickets at $55.

"The forecast looks good for additional snowfall in the coming weeks, making it possible to add more lifts and terrain as we can," Chrismer said. "All in all, with the long range La Niña forecast, the opening of the Sky House at the summit and the approaching Christmas holiday, there is so much to be excited about at Schweitzer right now. We're really looking forward to an amazing 2016/17 season."

Schweitzer is well-known for its two bowls — Schweitzer Bowl and Outback Bowl — as well as its views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. With 2,900 acres of terrain and 32 kilometers of Nordic trails for cross-country, snowshoeing and snowbiking,

Schweitzer ranks among the largest ski resorts in North America. Other activities for non-skiers include an on-site spa, dining and shopping.
