Oct. 2, 1966 - SACHT IMPROVING

Sacht has shown remarkable improvement, she says. He is still unable to receive visitors but has been allowed to sit up in bed for a short time. Sacht and his family are deeply appreciative of the sincere concern expressed by so many of their friends. Neighbors have pitched in and taken over all of the farm chores and other work.

DECREASE WINS SAMUELSON NOD
State Senator Don Samuelson, Republican candidate for governor, today said he was receptive to the Legislative Council’s subcommittee report which would decrease the number of state agencies and departments from 100 to 18.
“This is the only way,” Samuelson said, “that we can expect to have an efficient government and one which operates with economy in mind.”
“A central purchasing department is most necessary,” Samuelson said, “Presently there is no control over purchases, there is no inventory of what the state owns and some departments act on their own when purchases are made.”
Samuelson said he would work for the legislation needed to bring about a more efficient and more economical state government.
