Bonner County Democratic Party Chair Ken Meyers’ letter, “McAlister’s vision deserves your vote,” suggests that, in contrast to Rep. Heather Scott, Kate McAlister would provide education for our children “to succeed in a 21st-century economy,” provide roads and bridges, and a thriving economy for the middle class. Meyers does not say how. Nor does he explain why he thinks Scott opposes the above.

Rep. Scott’s vision is exemplified by her voting record: support for reduced taxes for all, including for the middle class; local control of education, with emphasis on children learning to think rather than to be cogs in a globalist wheel; and government spending on necessities rather than on federal requirements and donor perks. She also supports Idaho taking control of our public land so it can provide for our schools, roads and bridges rather than leaving it for the federal government to mismanage, and then dole out pittances with strings attached. Her support for our constitutional rights is well known.

Scott’s opponent’s vision includes many things but without specifying who will pay for them: broadband for all, higher wages, free post-high school education, and “closing the Medicaid gap — making our tax money work for all of us” (translation: ObamaCare’s proposed Medicaid expansion).

The choice is not hard: my vote goes to Heather Scott.
