SANDPOINT — The Music Conservatory of Sandpoint is hosting a performance of “Stabat Mater” today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 601 S. Lincoln St.
The performance begins at 3 p.m. and a reception will follow.
The title of Stabat Mater, a 13th-century hymn composed by Giovanni Pergolesi, comes from its first line, ‘Stabat Mater Dolorosa,’ which means ‘the sorrowful mother stood.’ This will be an outstanding performance featuring soprano Alyce Ispirescu and mezzo-soprano Brenda Rutledge, directed by John Fitzgerald, and accompanied by the MCS Ensemble Orchestra.
Admission is a $10 suggested donation at the door. Reservations not required.
