I’m a registered Republican voting for Kate McAlister for state representative, District 1-A. Ms. McAlister understands the meaning of “public service” and will represent all of her constituents in the Legislature. She is in touch with the community she will serve, and seeks to improve the lives of those in her district.

Heather Scott is a disappointment. Her first term has been a series of attention-grabbing stunts. She represents ideologues with extreme views, and ignores the rest of us. She exhibits no interest in helping ordinary citizens with ordinary issues.

During her first term, Ms. Scott has:

• Obstructed the state child support collection system on imagined threats involving Sharia law.

• Displayed the confederate battle flag in a community parade.

• Traveled to Oregon to support the illegal take-over at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge.

• Denied medical care to thousands of working Idahoans by opposing Medicaid expansion.

• Wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act with no alternative plan.

• Would ban Planned Parenthood, which prevents abortions by providing contraception.

Now, she has not immediately repudiated acts of political intimidation perpetrated by armed people wearing her campaign paraphernalia.

Vote for Kate McAlister. She’ll work for us in Boise.
