In comparing the candidates for Idaho Legislative District 1A, it is helpful to check out their websites and endorsements. And for the incumbent, Heather Scott, studying her voting record is instructive.

Heather Scott voted against technology and science programs for our schools, voted against a bill to establish health care clinics for low-income citizens, and argued against Stimson Lumber’s conservation easement of Clagstone Meadows. Of bigger concern to me is her determination to “gain control of our Idaho federally managed lands.” I love the pristine wilderness of North Idaho and fear that if the state does get control of this acreage it will end up being sold to timber companies and other private concerns who will put up “no trespassing” signs.

Kate McAlister has been endorsed by the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, which praises her experience and “history of supporting commerce.”

Join me — vote for Kate!
