SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Citizens Preparedness Expo is hosting an all-day event Saturday with vendors and speakers giving tips and talks on emergency essentials.

"The purpose of the event is to put out to the general public that there are concerns in this area, whether it's flooding, fire, winter storms, and how they can be prepared ahead of time," said event chair Penny Cosner. "If we got cut off from services, what would you need to have available, whether it was a week or two weeks, or even just three days?"

Speakers will address topics such as wilderness first aid, food storage, go bags, the top five area hazards, disaster response and ham radios.

The event is co-sponsored by Bonner County Emergency Management, Bee Safe Security, Inc., Advanced Off-Road Trailers, Naturally Cozy, North Idaho Heat, Raindrop Northwest, Massage Therapy, Young Living Farms, Sand Creek Custom Wear and Privy Paper.

More than 20 vendors will have items and information available on emergency preparedness.

Many of the sponsors listed will participate as vendors, along with Thrivelife Freeze Dried Foods, My Patriot Supply, essential oil distributors as well as other local businesses and organizations.

It is a free event and everyone is encouraged to come, Cosner said.

The event will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Bonner County Fairgrounds.
