Oct. 30, 1966 – MISS SANDPOINT NAMED

Miss Sandpoint for 1967 is Miss Marilyn Dalby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David H. Dalby.

First princess is Marcia Shadel. Second princess is Susan Hedlund.

The high school auditorium was packed for the annual pageant. Sandpoint Junior Club was in charge.

Marilyn Dalby was sponsored for the contest by Sandpoint Elks. She had as her talent presentation the singing of “Edelweiss” while playing the accompaniment on her guitar.

Miss Sandpoint will have a big year because of the nearness of the World Scout Jamboree at Farragut State park.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS ISSUED

Bonner County Clerk Doris Kenney reports that a total of 375 absentee ballots, including civilians and servicemen in Vietnam and other parts of the world have been issued from the clerk’s office.

Anyone who is unable to vote personally on election day may request that a ballot be taken to their home, she said.

Mrs. Kenney noted that in the nominating (now known as a primary) election in August, there were 4,236 votes cast in Bonner County and in the 1964 general election 7,422 votes were cast compared to 6,757 in 1962.

Oct. 30, 1916 – NICE WINDOW

Among the nicely decorated windows of the city is one recently decorated in the Hallowe’en fashion by Harold Harford of the Crescent pharmacy. It is carried out in the yellow and black scheme of Hallowe’en and is particularly attractive after dark when covered lights give it a weirdly fascinating appearance.

DEATH OF UNFORTUNATE LAD

Benny Oschgar who was operated upon by Dr. Warren S. Moore at the City hospital last Monday for an abcess of the brain, passed away this morning, the cause of death being given as acute starvation and general debility. •••

RECEIVE BEEF

The City market Tuesday received a shipment of 5000 pounds of dressed beef which had been slaughtered at Bottle bay. The meat was brought to the city dock by the Northern Navigation company and loaded on a two-ton truck which carried it to the City market refrigerators. The loaded truck attracted considerable attention as it moved with its cargo from the dock to the market.

DANCE AT DOVER

There was a Hallowe’en dance at Dover hall Saturday night. Sandpoint musicians furnished the music.
