Once again the Festival has thumbed its nose at the boating public. I refer specifically to the Festival’s occupation of the boat ramp and parking lot at Memorial Field. There was not even the pretense of some measure of parking control during the concerts.

People parked in the dozen or so “view” spaces, locked their cars and were gone for hours. They parked where the boaters parked their trailers, limiting boater access. By Saturday Aug. 13, the situation was so out of control that the entire parking lot at Memorial was full at dawn. Cars were parked there overnight. Boaters were forced to go elsewhere to launch as street parking was full as well.

It is rare that one finds a more egregious case of the abuse of public funds and public property as is found in the continued bending to the will of a few elite in the community rather than to do what is best for all concerned. All hail great Festival. Long may you rule.
