SHS varsity and JV girls roll in opening XC race

POST FALLS — Showing the depth that makes them one of the top programs in North Idaho if not the state, the Sandpoint girls cross country team swept both the varsity and JV races on Thursday night at the season-opening 5K Post Falls River Run at Kiwanis Park.

All seven varsity runners finished in the top 18 in a field of 53 runners, led by the second place finish of Katherine Kaul (20:09) and eighth place finish of Hannah Davidson (21:39). Rounding out the Bulldog runners were Niah Brass (11th/22:16), Dana Beatty (13th/22:31), Rainey Woodward (14th/22:35), Sharon Rowe (16th/22:51) and Farli Boden (18th/23:03).

The Bulldog boys varsity finished third among 12 teams, led by Cole Dillon in 15th (18:14) and Clay Rasmussen right behind in 16th (18:17). Rounding out the varsity boys team in a field of 76 runners were Reilly Wolfe (21st/18:27), Ephriam Weisz (24th/18:40), Riley McGinness (37th/19:38), Story Crossett (43rd/19:15) and Hyrum Hunsaker (48th/20:28).

The Bulldog JV girls also dominated their race, with top 10 finishes turned in by Chloe Braedt (3rd/24:33), Mesa Keating (4th/24:34), Paige Davidson (6th/24:44), Chole Pierce (7th/24:50) and Erin Meek (8th/25:21).

The Bulldog boys JV team finished second among 11 teams, led by Peik Lund-Andersen (6th/19:50), Wyatt Hagen (7th/20:06), Garrett Pierce (14th/20:32), Dutton Rogers (15th/20:37) and Jacob Jackson (30th/21:42).

The Bulldogs are at the Timberlake Invitational on Saturday at Farragut State Park.
