I believe, even in today’s poisoned political atmosphere, we can agree the choices in this general election are disappointing; probably because there is something negative to be said about both major candidates.

On one side is the GOP’s standard bearer, Mr. Trump. He hasn’t a clue as to what to do in governing; perhaps he will lead us into bankruptcy and further enrich himself as the country goes down. On the other side is the Democrats’ champion, Mrs. Clinton. She is untrustworthy, devious, too chummy with Wall Street, in it for the money.

As to Mrs. Clinton, the charges against her would indicate she is a politician. Aren’t they all untrustworthy, devious, too chummy with Wall Street, and in it for the money? So, what’s the beef with her? American voters are thrilled to vote for politicians. Take a close look at the Idaho congressional team (Crapo, Risch, Simpson, Labrador) and let me know if you see any statesmen.

On the other side is Mr. Trump; to my mind, he stands accused of more nefarious charges: hates women (and that’s most of us); hates minorities (and that’s most of us); petulant; devoid of governance skills; dictator; liar extraordinaire; bully; demagogue; etc.

Thomas Jefferson insisted common folk could be trusted to make the right choice as voters. We’ll see. And, as in 1968, “the whole world is watching” again, right along with us. Yes, the choices in this election are limited — and simple; they come down to a politician versus a buffoon.
