William G. “Bill” Angel, 87, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at the V.A. Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.
Masonic services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at the Lakeview Funeral Home under the auspices of Lakeside Lodge No. 42 A.F. & A.M.
Military honors will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery.
Bill was born on April 25, 1929, in Naco, Ariz., to William and Marian Angel. He grew up in San Diego, Calif., and graduated from Herbert Hoover High School.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1947, served during the Korean War, was stationed in Greece and the United States, and retired in 1967 as a Tech Sgt. Air Force recruiter. Bill liked to joke that in the Air Force he “flew a mahogany.”
Bill’s second career was with the state of Washington utilities and transportation in Spokane. He married Linda Norman on Feb. 14, 1979, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They lived in Elk, Wash., until 1992 when Bill retired from the state and they moved to Vay, Idaho.
Bill was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of Concor-dia Masonic Lodge No. 249, Lakeside Lodge No. 42 A.F. & A.M., and Newport Lodge No. 114, where he served as Past Master. He also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Clover Chapter 33 in Rathdrum and Martha Chapter 34 in Sandpoint and was a Past Patron.
He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and packing in the back country with his horses.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Angel of Vay, Idaho; his children, Bill (Teela) Angel of Hamilton, Ohio, John Angel of San Diego, Lorie (Jim) Morrow of Clayton, Wash., James Angel of Clayton, and Douglas (Bonnie) Angel of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a sister, Chelo Moses of Virginia.
