Runners from region race to a Scenic finish

SANDPOINT — Hundreds of runners from all over the region — and the country — took part in the annaual Scenic Half Marathon hosted by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce hosted on Sunday at City Beach. The weather was perfect for the run despite a full day of rain on Saturday, hampering set up efforts by chamber volunteers.

The half marathon overall male winner was Matt Mattison, from Coeur d’Alene in a time of 1:21.55.9. Second-place was Jack Brodhead, from Spokane, in a time of 1:39:19 and third was Korey Kreiders from Coeur d’Alene in a time of 1:29:50.6.

For the women, Shaunavee Dick from Sandpoint, took first in a time of 1:32:15.2

Tracie Podoll, from Spokane took second in a time of 1:35:47.6 and Emily Schreiner took third in a time of 1:36.55.3.

In the 10K, Bryan Tevis from Rathdrum took first overall in a time of 36:05.8. For the women, Alanna Goobie, from Ferndale, Wash., took first overall in a time of 45:36.1.

Finally, in the 5K, for the men, Jason Dowdy from Henrico, Va., took first in a time of 17:56.6 and Ara Clark from Sandpoint took first over all for the women in a time of 22:29.2.
