POST FALLS — They dropped the first set, but it was all Wampus Cats after that, earning a 26-28, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14 win over Genesis Prep in nonleague volleyball on Friday in Post Falls.

Brooke Stevens posted 35 assists to go with five kills, and Hailey Bristol hit 13 kills for the Wampus Cats (5-4), who had to adjust and hit around a 6-6 middle blocker.

“It’s hard to change up your offense to adjust to the defense,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “Broke did a good job mixing up the sets, going to multiple front row and back row players tonight. Nona Young did a great job leading the team tonight. I like her senior leadership on the court.”

Allison Warner added 11 kills, eight digs and two aces, Tessa and Ali Sutton five kills each, Sarah Holderman four kills and three stuff blocks, and Emily Garman 12 digs for the Cats in defeat.

The Wampus Cats (5-4) are at Mullan on Tuesday.
