SANDPOINT — A week ago, the Bulldogs let a two goal lead slip away in a 3-3 tie against the Timberwolves in Sandpoint.

On Monday, they made sure and closed the deal, beating Lake City 3-2 in a rare second home friendly in the same season in nonleague boys soccer on Monday at Pine St. Field.

Dawson Mulder and Amos Crossingham scored goals to stake the Bulldogs (6-2-4) to a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute, and despite Lake City (4-5-1) making things interesting with quick-striking attack, the lead held up behind a strong game in goal from Bulldog keeper Mitch Rust.

“I liked the effort defensively, we were organized and compact. Dylan (Baillie) and Terron (Tvrdy) as a center back duo is playing well together,” said Bulldogs head coach Adam Tajan. “Our go-to guys, Dawson and Amos, are hard to handle. They showed they can get on the stat page against a 5A.”

Beau Chandler cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 70th minute, but Cole Baillie scored his fifth goal of the season to give the Bulldogs an important insurance goal, as Travis Swallow would bend a 30 yard free kick around the wall for the final goal of the game.

Sandpoint is at Lakeland on Wednesday, then will travel south to face the Timberwolves for a third time this season on Saturday.
