Film festival long on entertainment

| September 29, 2016 1:00 AM

Once again the world wide Manhattan Short Film Festival returns to the Panida. Over 100,000 film lovers from across the globe in over 259 cities gather in cinemas, museums and universities for one united purpose … to view and vote on the Finalist’s Films in the 19th annual Manhattan Short Film.

This year’s films include “Ella Gets a Promotion”, a talented and loyal employee, who finally gets the promotion she deserves … or does she? A humorous look at duplicitous behavior in today’s corporate America, showing us unique sides and that everyone’s sense of humor is slightly different.

Another selection out of Germany gives voice to two key interviews that are central to the film.”The Tunnel” deals with a family returning by car from the holidays and they are stuck in a traffic jam which threatens to put an early end to their trip, courtesy of the government. Vocals are selected as are several outstanding performances.

This year’s MFF Shorts are done in one sitting and not broke into two showings like last year. Friday, Sept. 30, at 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 1, at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3:30 p.m.

Patrons will list their votes and then those votes will be sent in for a formal count. The winners are announced around midmorning by Monday.
