Former Bulldog goalie earns Player of the Week honors

SANDPOINT — Webster University freshman goalkeeper Kyle Hertel posted a shutout in his second college start recently, leading Webster to a 2-0 win over Greenville College.
It was the league opener for the Gorlocks (3-6, 1-1), and Hertel’s play earned him the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 19-25.
The former Bulldog goalie is making his presence known as a freshman at the Division III school located in St. Louis, Missouri, recording 11 saves on 38 shot attempts with a goals-against average of 1.87 per game.
